“Be brave, life is joyous” – Michael Leunig’s wisdom on my wall
Other people’s wisdom + a dash of mine
A month ago, I attempted to come up with 54¾ pieces of advice, and rapidly “pivoted” to ask this community for their very best.
We had a lot of great contributions.. Thank you if you were one of those people.
Here are a few that I’d like to share, with attribution where it was given.
Choose your battles. (So simple, but so difficult sometimes.) ~ Natasa
What two values do you hold true? No matter what – these rules guide you. Nothing will cause you to break, twist, bend them. ~ Diane McRandal
Don’t let your doubt kill your possibilities. – Said to Shirley by Ang Barnard, her coach + host of podcast “The Intentional Mind.”
If you’re not sure, do the thing. If it goes terribly you’ll learn (SO MUCH) — and you might get a good story out of it. ~ Amy Rhoda Brown
Not everything you think is true or useful. Question your thoughts and choose wisely those that will help you be the person you want to be. ~ Nikki D’Souza
Walk in there like you own the place! Remember who you are, where you are and what you’re there to do. ~ Tami Dowler-Coltman
Let it unfold ~ Jim Cyr
Your perception of me is a reflection of you ; my reaction to you is an awareness of me. ~ @danishsketch
Jim Knight: The truest thing about you is the highest thing about you—not the worst thing. ~ Jim Knight
I see you. I hear you. I feel you and I love you. ~ Anon
It was hard to pick from the many many offerings – I’m sorry if yours didn’t make it.
But it was also wonderful to see that we use so many different core pieces of wisdom as a compass in our lives. For some of us, it’s about patience (let it unfold), others about self trust (don’t let your doubt kill your possibilities), others again about confidence (walk in there like you own the place).
It reminds me that no one piece of wisdom serves everyone, and also that the wisdom that I most need will change over time.
